Payment Policy

PAYMENT MUST ACCOMPANY ENTRIES.

Early Pay pricing is available for entries received with payment in full by DECEMBER 15 2023.

Standard rates apply after December 15.

  • Balances paid after the deadline must be paid with cash or cashiers check

  • here is a 4% processing fee for Venmo payments.

  • Any prize money (scholarships, Pot of Gold, Professional), cannot be used to deduct any balances due.

  • In the event of lack of entries, the organizer has the right to combine, cancel or reduce the prize money for any scholarship or professional event.

  • Canceled entries taken at the event cannot be substituted by another entry and will not be refunded.

A registration fee is required for each day a Pro/Am, Am/Am or Pro/Am teacher is competing.


Cancelation Policy ONLY for medical emergency with a doctor’s note

Option 1 is a credit for next year’s Snow Ball minus the registration fees and any other meals purchased. 

Option 2 is a refund minus the registration fees and minus 10 percent of the remaining balance. 

Refunds are issued by check 30 days after the competition. 

No refunds will be given for entries canceled during the competition. 

No refunds will be given after package pick up is available starting at 7 pm central time on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

SYLLABUS RESTRICTIONS

  • Material danced should be based on the NDCA, ISTD, DVIDA, Fred Astaire, Arthur Murray, or equivalent syllabus. Lifts are allowed only in a solo exhibition.

  • The NDCA approved step list will be invigilated.

  • NDCA dress codes will be strictly enforced.

DANCING CONSECUTIVE LEVELS + AGE DIVISIONS

  • Students can dance Newcomer for one year only, regardless of style.

  • Teachers can only have one entry per dance/level and age category.

  • Students MAY dance up to 6 consecutive levels in each style. For example, 6 levels would be Beginning Silver, Pre Silver, Intermediate Silver, Open Intermediate Silver, Full Silver and Open Silver.

  • Adult students MAY dance their actual age group, plus one age group younger.

  • Organizers have the right to merge or cancel heats in any event with fewer than three entries.

  • Organizers have the right to pay 1/2 of the Scholarship prize money in events with 3 or less competitors that can not be be merged.

  • Students MAY NOT enter both the Bronze and Open Multi-Dance Events and Scholarships in the same style.

  • Silver students MAY enter both the Silver and Rising Star events in the same style.

  • Students MAY enter both the Gold and Open Multi-Dance Events and Scholarships in the same style.

  • Please note the new NDCA rule “the Pro/Am student winner of any closed multi-dance or rising star multi-dance event of three (3) dances or more, in which a semifinal is held, is ineligible to compete in the same multi-dance level, style, and age category at that event in the following years.”

TOP STUDIO QUALIFICATIONS

  • Small studios must have 1-2 teachers

  • Large studios must have 3 or more teachers

  • Trophies will be presented to the top 3 small studios and the top 3 large studios based on entries.


TOP MALE & FEMALE TEACHER

  • Will be determined by a combination of entries and placements as described on the DanceSport website.

  • In addition to the Teacher’s Pot of Gold prize money, the top male and female teachers will receive trophies.

  • Multi-dance and scholarship entries count as one entry toward the Teacher’s Pot of Gold award money, and Top Teacher awards. Top teacher placements will be announced based on the World Pro/Am DanceSport Series point system.

  • Top Grand Slam Teacher – Teachers must have a minimum of 4 students dancing a minimum of 8 Multi-Dance or Scholarship events to qualify for this title and prize money.

  • Top Grand Slam Student - Pro/Am students must enter a minimum of 4 Scholarship and/or Multi-Dance events to qualify for the title and prize money.

  • Teachers must personally dance each entry toward Top Teacher qualification.


TOP GRAND SLAM TEACHER

  • Will be awarded to the 6 top teachers whose students place highest across multiple styles.

  • Top Grand Slam Teacher prize money rewards your expertise and your student's placements in Multi-Dance and Scholarship events.

  • To qualify for a prize you need a minimum of 4 students entered in a minimum of 8 Scholarship and Multi-Dance events.

  • 1st place Top Grand Slam Teacher will receive a trophy in addition to the prize money.

SOLO SHOWDANCE SCHOLARSHIP

  • Solo exhibitions can last a maximum of 3 minutes. Music must be individually labeled with the student’s name and heat number.

  • Only USB thumb drives will be accepted.

  • No CDs and no cell phones/ipods/or other portable music devices.


GLOBAL TOP GRAND SLAM STUDENT

  • Will be awarded to the top 6 Pro/Am students in Scholarship and Multi-Dance events.

  • Top Grand Slam Student awards are designed to honor the versatile Pro/Am dancer who excels in multiple styles.

  • Each student must enter a minimum of 4 Scholarship and/or Multi-Dance events to qualify for the prize money and title.

TOP STUDENT

  • Trophies will be awarded to the Top male and Top female Newcomer, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and OpenPro/Am students based on the number of entries.

  • A trophy will also be presented to the Top Amateur couple based on number of entries.


BEST OF THE BEST

  • Closed Bronze and Closed Silver dancers compete in the Best of the Best Challenge in their age division.

  • Winners in each style and age division have a dance-off against other age divisions in that style to determine the overall winner who will participate in the Grand Finale Challenge at Ohio Star Ball
